THE STEAMSHIP s/s VIKING (1897, 1901-1908)

The steamship Viking operated the Oskarshamn-northern Öland route, calling at several ports in northern Kalmarsund, until 1908. After 1908, the vessel served only smaller ports of Småland and Borgholm until 1928. Much later, in 1968, she sank of Utö while operating as the motor tug Östersjön.

Delivered by Oskarshamn Mekaniska Verkstad as Viking to Oskarshamn Steamship Company. Entered service on the route Oskarshamn - Mösterås - Alvedsjöbodar - Byxelkrok - Sandvik (Öland).

9 October 1894

Re-measured. New dimensions 29.96 x 6.68 metres. Gross / Net Tonnage revised to 192/134.

1901

Rebuilt.

28 July 1903

Re-measured. New dimensions 29.87 x 6.68 metres. Gross / Net Tonnage revised to 200/142.
