THE STEAMSHIP s/s SOLÖ (1951–1957)

The steamship s/s Solö was the first ferry to carry motor vehicles to and from Byxelkrok. Solö operated only during the summer season on the route Oskarshamn – Byxelkrok – Sandvik – Borgholm. Built in 1902, the vessel was originally named Kalmarsund VII, before being renamed Solö in 1951 following a change of ownership.
